The Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center (WDDC) was founded in 1987 in Berkeley, California to provide hospitality and support for women who are homeless and/or victims of domestic violence and their children. Northern Alameda County is home to the county’s highest concentration of chronically homeless individuals, all of whom struggle with addictions, physical disabilities and/or severe and persistent mental illness. Today the WDDC continues its commitment to women and children by providing case management, housing identification/placement services, mental health services, transitional housing and is a key provider in the Alameda County Everyone Home plan to end homelessness.

Objective: To work in a flexible, joint, client focused model answering to daily needs of the clients at the Drop-In Center and at Bridget House. The position works collaboratively with the Case Managers and Counselors providing team support to provide and promote services and referrals for the Bridget House residents and the daily clients at the Drop-In Center. The position will assist the residents at Bridget House and clients of the Drop-In with daily Case Management and the team to ensure availability of supportive services are being provided. This position will also provide support for Shelter Plus Care clients. This position is under the supervision of the WDDC Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for providing Case Management to transitional house and Drop-In clients.
2. Responsible for assisting with the development of regular schedule of life skills and support activities designed to help participants address areas of difficulty in life. Support activities will include Recovery group, parenting support and education, HIV prevention, domestic violence prevention. Life skills will include budgeting, finance, credit, savings, nutrition, smart shopping, employment preparation, job seeking and housing search. Children’s activities will include tutoring, art, play activities.
3. Must maintain all necessary Records and Data Collection (for individual clients and for program performance documentation.) Participation in HUD mandated Homeless Management Information System required
4. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– Demonstrated knowledge and skills working with homeless women and children,
– Knowledge and experience dealing with issues of domestic violence, substance abuse recovery, and mental disabilities.
– Emotional maturity, clean and sober, ability to enforce program rules fairly.
– Responsible and dependable.
– Excellent crisis intervention, communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to work as an effective team member, but also able to function independently in accordance with the mission of the Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center.
– Social work and case management experience, with degree preferred.
– Proof of current TB test; must pass background check.

Preferred:
-English/Spanish speaking
– Experience working in homeless services in Alameda County
– Experience working in residential programs.
-Experience in one or more of the following models: Housing First, Trauma-Informed Care, Harm Reduction and Critical Time Intervention.
– Experience working in domestic violence and certification from a domestic violence counseling program.
– Experience working in HUD funded programs and experience with reporting.

Salary and Benefits:
Position is 24 to 32 hours, Saturday apply, $19 hourly. Benefits include holidays, sick days and vacation, as outlined in personnel policies. Multi-Site On-Call Counselor

Multi-Site On-Call Counselor

Objective:

Ensure that Drop-In Center and transitional house for four homeless women and their children will provide case management, life skill training, and support services needed to help families overcome homelessness and to secure stable housing and lives in the community.

Expectations:

Must help create a positive transitional house community, encouraging program participants in their efforts to use program services and supported housing to improve their self-sufficiency, life skills and ability to secure and maintain independent housing. Work with other staff to ensure that house, program rules, and case management plans are followed for the benefit and safety of program residents and the surrounding neighbors and community.
